Laura Lynch, founding member of ‘The Chicks’, dies in car crash

El Paso, Tx. (WTVQ) — Members of the country music band “The Chicks’ are paying tribute to one of the group’s founding members, Laura Lynch.

The 65-year-old died in a car crash in El Paso, Texas on Friday.

The surviving members of the group previously known as the ‘Dixie Chicks’ posted a statement on their Instagram page.

They said they hold a special place in their hearts for the time they spent playing music, laughing and traveling together.

The group called Lynch a bright light. And said her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of their band.

Police in Texas are still investigating the head on collision.

Lynch died at the scene.

The driver that crashed into Lynch was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
