Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) — There is a new candidate for the 76th District Kentucky State Representative.

Anne Gay Donworth kicked off her campaign on Saturday at the DV8 Kitchen.

Donworth, who works for the Lexington Public Library, is excited to be campaigning for the district to help serve the community.

“It is something that I have really enjoyed doing, working in the public space and serving our community,” said Donworth. “I wanted to try to take that to the next level to do that on a larger scale.”

Many people showed up for the campaign kickoff, including old friends.

“This is really exciting, I’ve known Anne since we were kids and she is someone I’ve always looked up to,” said Will Coffman. “I think one of the things that makes me so excited to support her, she’s not a politician. She’s someone who has served our community for her whole career and I’m really looking forward to seeing her bring that to Frankfort.”

Anne was grateful for all of the support.

“It is a very humbling thing seeing friends from all different walks of my life coming out and supporting me is really wonderful.”

If elected, she hopes to work on public education, making sure there is smart and sound public policy and making sure the people can have quality public spaces, like parks
