Arrest made in connection with April homicide

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of Dennis Ruiz-Trujillo Jr., 18, which happened on April 4th.

Wilmer Romero, 18, has been apprehended and is currently behind bars at the Fayette County Detention Center on multiple charges, including murder, contempt of court, tampering with a prison monitoring device, trafficking a controlled substance, and trafficking marijuana.

The Lexington Police Department started the investigation following the incident on Carlisle Avenue on April 4, where officers responded to reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they say they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Dennis Ruiz-Trujillo Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
