UK Healthcare Circle of Love committee gifting toys to kids
UK’s Circle of Love program is serving around 700 children in ten counties
Lexington, Ky (WTVQ): UK Healthcare Circle of Love committee loaded school buses with gifts for children in need. It’s a tradition that goes back more than 30 years.
UK’s Circle of Love program is serving around 700 children in ten counties, including Fayette, Bourbon and Woodford. Lowery says each child gets three wishes. So, at the minimum gets three gifts. Jennifer Lowery, with UK Healthcare, says “someone wanted pink cowgirl boots. A lot of times it’s just really simple gifts.” She says, “It’s a lot more than three gifts because they’re getting coats, shoes, things winter clothes. It’s above and beyond just the basic wishes that they ask for.”
Trash bags full of gifts benefiting hundreds of children throughout the area, intending to make a Christmas they’ll never forget, included stuffed animals, fire trucks and really any kid of toy a child might want.
Mallory White, a Woodford County Youth Center Coordinator, says, “I think it is fun also to get to watch them make the list just because they get to think about it and be like what do I want? And they really don’t get asked that question a lot,” said White.
Without this program many children would go without presents on Christmas.
Jasmine Hazelwood, another Woodford County Youth Center Coordinator, says,” When you see a lot of students you just don’t realize because they can go to school and everything looks the same, but realize this is important and a lot of kids still are in need.”
